Hi all,
Well, the holidays are just around the corner and there is a lot going on here in Horry county. I just received a letter from our lawyer Tom McGrath stating that he anticipates that we will be in court on the helmet ticket issue some time in January or February 2010. I will keep you posted on any updates pertaining to this matter.
Well, the elections are over, and we are going to be in deep do do. We have John Rhodes for another four years. I really don’t know what happened. Every business owner, employee, resident, and biker in Myrtle Beach I have spoken to in the last year wanted Rhodes out, and yet he still won the election. Sounds fishy to me. The ethics commission has now started to look into the shady campaign contributions given to Rhodes and his cronies. Maybe that will help, but I doubt it.

Cliff Dalton, Legislative Coordinator for ABATE of South Carolina will be speaking at the South Carolina Freedom Rally.
Please help us get the word out about and plan ahead for the South Carolina Rally for Freedom to be held at the Statehouse in Columbia on Saturday, January 9th, 2010. This is a collaborative effort between several South Carolina liberty-focused groups aimed at our state legislators just in time for the opening session in January. It's time The People made our voices heard, and it's time for our legislators to listen. Let's remind them who they work for!

Yes, the shooting that was wrongly blamed on bikers, and led the Myrtle Beach council to try to stop the rallies. Instead of finding out the truth, and enforcing the existing laws during the rallies, that was their "solution".
"The trial for a Myrtle Beach teen charged in the fatal shooting of a Coastal Carolina University student will begin Monday in a case that ignited the push in Myrtle Beach to change the May motorcycle rallies."
Yes, the shooting that was wrongly blamed on bikers, and led one Myrtle Beach council member to start a movement to stop the rallies. Instead of finding out the truth, and enforcing the existing laws during the rallies, these new discriminatory ordinances were their "solution".

BOLT of NC has information about recent motorcycle-only "safety" checkpoints in North Carolina. These discriminatory checkpoints were funded by federal "safety" funds given to the Governor's Highway Safety Program. Why should SC bikers care? Because we could be next.

Lately it seems that wherever I go people want to know what is happening in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Some are concerned, others are curious, and many are angry. It seems that motorcyclists everywhere have been watching what is going on there. However, I have also met those who don’t really care. They don’t go to Myrtle Beach and therefore could not care less about what happens there. They often ask, “Since I can go elsewhere, why should I care what Myrtle Beach does?” That is a valid question which deserves an answer. However, before I do that let’s have a brief re-cap of what has gone on in Myrtle Beach to date.

I moved down here last September with the intention of staying here. I have not worked for over a year, by choice. After returning from Sturgis I decided to go back to work. I started looking around and tried to find something in the surrounding area. With the new economic turndown there was not much available. I started looking in the nearby states; somewhere I could commute and be home on weekends. I was not pressed to find a job so I could wait until something that fit my criteria became available. Meanwhile, while I was in Sturgis I was contacted by a company, up in Md, that I used to work for. They wanted to add my resume to a proposal they were putting together. I told them ok. The other week I was headed to Md, which I have done regularly, and the company called me. They had another opportunity available and asked if I was interested. I told them I now live in SC and if they wanted me to come they had to make it worth my while. They did.
