I
had planned to mention this when I heard just one of these stories a
while back.  Going back to look up the story, I find a long list
of the same thing.  It seems that one of the least safe places to
be, unless you're looking for a campfire to toast some marshmallows, is
a fire station!

are from this spring, last fall, and a couple years ago.
Considering that it's hard to google search for stories with "fire" in
the title multiple times, and these are what came up in just a few
minutes - this problem has got to be scarily common.
These stories are from Georgia, Texas, and Tokyo.  No place is safe!
So
next time a fire marshall stops at your house to give you grief for
having a big bonfire in your little back yard, in the middle of a
neighborhood, too close to an outbuilding (I still gotta replace those
warped Plexiglass windows...) - ask him or her if there was pot left on
the stove back at the station.  Odds are the marshall will jump
back in the truck and drive off with a worried look.
