Iowa declares nude dancing 'art'; 2nd opinion sought

"the state is seeking a review of Judge Timothy O'Grady's August decision in which he ruled that a strip club was protected under a law allowing nudity in any "theater, concert hall, art center, museum or similar establishments" devoted to the arts or theatrical performances.

The state had charged Clarence Judy, then-owner of the strip club Shotgun Geniez, with violating the public indecent exposure law after a 17-year-old girl climbed on the stage and stripped off her clothes in July 2007.

"The district court found that while this was primarily a strip club, that the theater exemption still applies"

If they still need a second opinion, I'll ask Vince to write them a nice semi-legal opinion letter.

But, while in Iowa, pursuing our art, we have to keep things under control and not get too chummy with the authorities.

 Iowa man faces charges after hugging officer

"A hug has landed an Iowa City man in hot water. An Iowa City man who thought a police officer just "needed a hug" faces several charges including assault on a peace officer and public intoxication.

Police said a 21-year-old man was arrested on Saturday. According to police records, the man ran up to the officer and stuck out his arms.

The officer told him to "get away," but the man didn't take the hint and embraced the officer."
