I’d Been Meaning to Look Up The All-Night Vet
Current mood:  anxious
Category: Pets and Animals

For all the 'preparedness' stuff I do, I never get around to making a plan for medical care.  I wouldn't know what to do for myself in between a band-aid and 911.  Same with the dogs - they get regular vet care, but for anything 'urgent' I'd be stumped.

So.... when Clem decided to put on a show last night - convulsions, eyes bloodshoot, writhing on the floor, not breathing - I was a little apprehensive.  Yeah, a little(!).  Putting a finger down his throat, chest massage, shaking him and yelling, "Wake up, you idiot!" eventually got him up and about again.  But then I had to drag out the phone book, that I almost threw away a buncha times, and *hope* that an all-night place had an ad.

A long exam and set of x-rays later, no real answer.  The pics are cool though.

The stupid mutt is now stuck with the regular vet all day for further inconclusive tests.

Poor Clem! What was sweet little Rose doing during all this? Poor puppies. You know, there may not be a "reason", he is a very old little man. Give them both big hugs for me!

I'm sorry. :( I hope they can give you some answers after further tests. And hope he's able to come home soon.

So where is the emergency vet now? I'm going out of town and leaving Paco with someone, and it would probably be good if I could tell them who to call in case of an emergency...
Hope your dog feels better!
