"I Don’t Need to Fight..."
Current mood: forsaking

"I don't need to fight, to prove I'm right"
"I don't need to be forgiven!"

The Vatican this week officially "forgave" John Lennon.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7744282.stm
"A Vatican newspaper has forgiven the late English singer John Lennon for saying four decades ago that The Beatles were more popular than Jesus."

Well, aren't they just a grand bunch of fellows?

A writery mate of mine (yes, he even makes money at this stuff) had something to say on the matter, and I thought you'd appreciate it.
[I would ask Andrew over for a pint or two with y'all, but airfare is a little steep, and he'd make all the single-malt scotch in town disappear]
(this snippet from http://www.doctorspinola.co.uk )
"Civilised world 'forgives' Vatican"
"While most of the civilised world instantly recognised that Lennon was using strange, sophisticated and eldritch forms of humour unknown to 80-year-old celibates and American fundamentalists, the Vatican stuck by its guns and insisted that the musician should be burnt at the stake, shot, burned at the stake again and damned in the fires of hell for all eternity.

Skating over the death, destruction, persecution, abuse, murder and tasteless purpleness that the Catholic faith has imposed on the world for the 1,988 years since a 30 year loveable Jewish mop-top announced that it would be a jolly good idea if people were nice to one another, rather than cutting their heads off or feeding them to the lions, the world today finally spoke out.

"We realise that we may have misrepresented the Catholic Church by accusing them of being murderous bastards and child molesters for the best part of 2,000 years," said the civilised world earlier today. "However, we now acknowledge the force for good that the Church has been in the intervening millennia.

"Combining excellent sponge cakes, floral arrangements, irrational guilt, homemade jam, and a cleansing, albeit fiery, attitude to witchcraft, the Church has played a major role in making billions more miserable.""

Do you think The Onion would have the balls/choirboys to pick this one up?
