Lucky Photographer of the Week
Current mood: energetic
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers
Odds are good you heard this story from a few days ago http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/24714800/ "PROVO,
Utah - A newspaper photographer got a little too close to the action at
the state high school track championships — and was speared through the
leg by a javelin."
What you may have missed here is what the photographer must have been thinking...
'{sigh} How
again did I wind up doing page 8 pics of a high school track meet
again? I didn't go to school for this! Oh, well, let's see
if I can get a good shot of girls high ju... ' [SHOOMP!]
"OW!" 'WTF WAS THAT??' 'Holy crap, this hurts... and it's going to make for great copy!'
"Hey, doc - come over here and make a big fuss!"
'Oh man, every wire service in the world is going to pick this up - I need some good shots.'
"Say, could you move to the other side of the leg where the light's better?"
'This could be my big bre..' "Hey! Careful with that!" '..my big break!'
=====
On
the flip side of bad-luck-at-work leg injuries, here's a
mind-bogglingly stupid stunt pulled by a FORMER firearms safety
instructor.
http://www.azcentral.com/offbeat/articles/2008/05/20/20080520odd-inspectorgunb20-on.html
"A
firearms instructor in southern Massachusetts has been assigned to
other duties after his gun accidentally went off while he was teaching
a class on weapons safety.
Officials say the Glock handgun
discharged while Maj. Donald Lamar was demonstrating to Bristol County
deputy sheriffs how to safely holster the weapon.
The bullet ripped a hole in Lamar's pants but missed his leg and foot.
Sheriff Thomas Hodgson says the officer made a "gross error in judgment" by not emptying the weapon before the class last week."
